On Thursday the 2nd of February, Alambra Dairy Products celebrated its 35 years at the Royal Hall in Nicosia with great success. It was attended by the government representative Mr. Niko Christodoulidi, on behalf of the president of the Cyprus republic Mr. Niko Anastasiadi, by the Parliament chairman, representatives from political parties, many known personalities and colleagues of the company from Cyprus and abroad. The entertainment part of the evening was hosted by the Greek singer Kosta Makedona.
The company celebrates 35 years of history, contribution and activity in the Cypriot dairy sector. A history that begins during the April of 1982 in the small village Alambra, when the receipt of 250 liters of milk was meant to forever change the face of the Cyprus dairy industry. So the family Petrou then decided to officially introduce their products to the Cypriot market, under the trade name Alambra, using only the original traditional recipes of their mother, granny Kakoullou who produced dairy products from the milk of their family farm.
The success of their products was so great from the very beginning, that after only six years from its founding, the company had its first export of Halloumi Cheese to the UK. Over the years the production volume started to increase leading the company in March 2009 to move to its new modern factory of 4500m², in Larnaka.
Furthermore, having as a basis the original family recipes, the company created a new line of products under the brand name “THE GRANNY”, while at the same time covering even the most demanding nutritional needs of the modern consumer, by introducing to the Cypriot market the Greek flavors of the products OLYMPOS.
Today, the company is a leader in the Halloumi Cheese market and employs over 150 highly qualified people, thereby maintaining more than 30% of the total Halloumi cheese production in Cyprus. Finally, the company’s long course of the last 35 years enables it to proudly export the traditional Halloumi cheese ALAMBRA to more than 30 countries worldwide.
